Exactly what you read, that useless organ may now have a purpose.
For generations the appendix has been dismissed as superfluous. Doctors figured it had no function. Surgeons removed them routinely. People live fine without them.
Now, some scientists think they have figured out the real job of the troublesome and seemingly useless appendix: It produces and protects good germs for your gut.
'A good safe house' they say, the worm-shaped organ outgrowth acts like a bacteria factory, cultivating the good germs as well as protect them.

If you don´t like spiders or you think spider webs are disgusting don´t read this post! The spider web you are about to see is huge, amazing how tiny creatures (not all of them) can create this sticky thing. Most impressive how big it got!
Spider experts say the web may have been constructed by social cobweb spiders, which work together, or could be the result of a mass dispersal in which the arachnids spin webs to spread out from one another.

The ability of zebrafish to regenerate damaged retinas has given scientists a clue about restoring human vision and could lead to an experimental treatment for blindness within five years.
British researchers said on Wednesday they had successfully grown in the laboratory a type of adult stem cell found in the eyes of both fish and mammals that develops into neurons in the retina.
Damage to the retina -- the part of the eye that sends messages to the brain -- is responsible for most cases of sight loss.
The cells have already been tested in rats with diseased retinas, where they successfully migrated into the retina and took on the characteristics of the surrounding neurons. Now the team is working on the same approach in humans.
In future, these cells could be injected into the eye as a treatment for diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetes-related blindness.
Let us all hope this could be the end of Blindness!

If you are a fan of small cars here is your chance. The Smart ForTwo engineered by Mercedes-Benz, will arrive in the U.S. in January 2008. It will be available as both a coupe and a cabriolet and priced from around $12,000-$17,000.
In fact, there are already 20.000 units already booked only to be delivered in January 2008.
You say it doesn't look safe? Four airbags, stability control, and a hard shell provide safety, while the ForTwo's height and bright colors make it easy to see, and its nimbleness make it a hard target to hit.
Though the Fortwo’s appearance changes in only subtle ways compared with the current model, the 2008 model will be larger, more comfortably equipped and more powerful than the current model.
